Special Correspondent : Kemin Animal Nutrition and Health organized ‘IH Impressions’ in Dhaka on Sunday (August 30), bringing together leading poultry experts, veterinarians, nutritionists, feed industry professionals and other key stakeholders to discuss scientific and practical approaches to intestinal health and resilient poultry production.
Held at Le Méridien Dhaka, the programme focused on the growing importance of intestinal health in improving bird performance, nutrient utilization, feed efficiency, disease resilience and sustainable poultry production.
The event opened with a welcome address by Mr. Sushanta Dey, Vice President, Kemin South Asia, who welcomed industry stakeholders and set the tone for the knowledge-sharing programme.
Bangladesh’s poultry industry continues to play a vital role in food security, nutrition and livelihoods. However, increasing challenges related to intestinal health, disease pressure, environmental stress, feed efficiency and sustainable performance are creating new demands for poultry producers. Against this backdrop, IH Impressions was designed as a knowledge-sharing platform connecting scientific research, field experience and practical application.
The programme featured a series of technical sessions led by internationally recognized poultry and intestinal health experts.
Dr. R. Chanthirasekaran, Regional Director – Technical Services, Kemin Animal Nutrition & Health, South Asia, delivered a session titled “Building Resilient Gut Health Programs: Lesion Insights, Immunity and Economics.” With more than 34 years of experience in disease diagnosis, health management and applied research, Dr. Chanthirasekaran has extensive expertise in poultry veterinary medicine and avian intestinal health. He has also led multidisciplinary technical teams and delivered programmes on lesion scoring, intestinal health and poultry management across Asia and Europe.
Dr. Hilde Van Meirhaeghe, Global Poultry Specialist – Vetworks, Europe, presented “Simplifying Gut Health Complexities: A Closer Look at Impact Factors and Their Practical Implications.” An internationally recognized poultry veterinarian, consultant, educator and researcher, Dr. Hilde has more than four decades of experience in poultry health, biosecurity and disease prevention across Europe, Africa and other regions.
The third technical session, “Beyond Gut Pathogens: Scientific Frameworks for Intestinal Resilience,” was presented by Dr. Satyam Sharma, Product Manager, Intestinal Health, Kemin Industries South Asia. His professional interests include intestinal microbiology, gut-barrier integrity, feed-gut interactions, nutritional modulation of gut health and strategies for managing pathogenic challenges. His work focuses on translating research findings and practical insights into evidence-based intestinal health programmes.
A panel discussion followed the technical sessions, providing an opportunity for industry stakeholders to exchange views on key challenges in intestinal health management and discuss practical strategies relevant to poultry production.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Muhammad Gulam Murshed, AGM (Bangladesh), Kemin Industries, who expressed appreciation to the speakers, industry professionals and participants for their presence and contributions to the knowledge-sharing initiative.
The event ended with a gala dinner, allowing participants to continue discussions and strengthen professional networking within the poultry and animal nutrition community.
Through IH Impressions, Kemin highlighted the importance of science-based intestinal health management in strengthening poultry productivity, resilience and sustainability. The programme also emphasized the value of combining global scientific expertise with local production insights to address the evolving challenges facing Bangladesh’s poultry sector.
Senior officials from Sigma Bangladesh, Avance Asia and Doctors Agrovet, the local distributors of Kemin Industries, also joined the programme, reflecting the strong engagement of Kemin’s local distribution partners with Bangladesh’s poultry and animal nutrition sector.
