Staff Correspondent : Leading veterinary healthcare company Gentry Pharmaceuticals Limited organized an international technical seminar and dinner in the capital, highlighting the role of Refined Functional Carbohydrates (RFCs) in improving feed efficiency, gut health and profitability in modern poultry production.
Held on Saturday (20 June) at the Le Méridien Dhaka, the seminar brought together poultry entrepreneurs, veterinarians, nutritionists, corporate professionals and industry stakeholders from across the country to discuss innovative nutritional strategies for sustainable poultry farming.
The seminar was held under the theme, “Maximizing Feed Efficiency, Gut Health, and Profitability in Modern Poultry Production: The Role of Refined Functional Carbohydrates.”
The program was anchored by Mr. Khan Mohammad Fazal E Alahi, Lead of Corporate Affairs of Gentry Pharmaceuticals Limited, who also delivered the welcome address. In his remarks, he outlined the journey of Gentry and its commitment to Bangladesh’s animal health sector.

He noted that the roots of Gentry Pharmaceuticals trace back to Gentry Corporation Limited, founded in 1984 by prominent entrepreneur Mr. Asadat Daullah. Over the decades, Gentry Corporation established itself as one of Bangladesh’s leading suppliers of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and specialty chemicals. Building on that experience and business philosophy, Gentry Pharmaceuticals Limited was established in 2009 to address the growing needs of the country’s livestock and poultry industries.
Mr. Fazal E Alahi said that Gentry Pharmaceuticals has since evolved into a trusted name in veterinary healthcare, offering a diversified portfolio of therapeutic, nutritional, and injectable products. Equipped with a GMP-compliant manufacturing facility in Gazipur’s Sreepur and supported by a nationwide distribution network and strategic international partnerships, the company continues to introduce innovative animal health solutions to Bangladeshi farmers.
Delivering the keynote goodwill address, Mr. Rezaul Hasan, Managing Director of Gentry Pharmaceuticals Limited, emphasized the importance of science-based and technology-driven interventions in strengthening the livestock sector.
“Through innovative and evidence-based solutions, Bangladesh’s livestock industry can become more competitive and profitable. We remain committed to bringing international expertise and modern scientific knowledge closer to our farmers,” he said.
The seminar also featured remarks from Dr. MA. Ibrahim Khalil, Director of Sales and Business Development, Ms. Sunjeeda Parvin, HR & Business Operation, and Mr. Tahmid Hasan, Head of Business Development of Gentry Pharmaceuticals Limited. The speakers highlighted the need for adopting advanced nutritional approaches and global best practices to ensure sustainable growth and safe animal protein production.
The scientific session was led by Dr. Ajeet Bisnoi, MVSc, MS, Regional Manager for South Asia, the Middle East and Africa at Arm & Hammer USA. Presenting the latest research findings, he explained how Refined Functional Carbohydrates can enhance gut integrity, strengthen immune responses, improve nutrient utilization, and ultimately increase production efficiency and farm profitability.
The technical discussion was further enriched by Dr. Sridhar Kalakuntla, MVSc, PhD, Technical Service Manager at Arm & Hammer USA, who shared field experiences and international research data on the practical application of RFCs, gut microbiome management, and their potential role as part of strategies aimed at reducing dependence on antibiotics.
The speakers observed that maintaining optimal gut health has become increasingly important in modern poultry production, particularly in the context of responsible antibiotic use and growing consumer demand for safe animal-origin foods. They noted that Refined Functional Carbohydrates represent a promising, science-backed nutritional tool for improving bird health and production performance.
An interactive question-and-answer session followed the presentations, allowing participants to exchange views with the experts. The event concluded with a networking session and dinner.
Among others, Dr. Rakibul Hasan, Lead of Institute Sales, along with senior officials of Gentry Pharmaceuticals Limited, were present at the programme.
Participants described the seminar as a timely initiative that would help accelerate the adoption of modern technologies and knowledge-driven practices, contributing to the sustainable development and global competitiveness of Bangladesh’s poultry industry.
