BUILDING THE FUTURE OF POULTRY NUTRITION TOGETHER

Published at জুলাই ৩, ২০১৮

In the few past months, Lallemand Animal Nutrition has been actively meeting the Asian poultry market and sharing scientific knowledge. Our Asian Distributors Meeting brought together important poultry partners from across Asia. We also organized our first Asian Poultry Technical Meeting, gathering 130 poultry professionals. Finally, our R&D team shared some of its latest results during the 11th Asia Pacific Poultry Conference (APPC), presenting seven scientific posters. These communications highlighted the benefits of natural antioxidants and gut microflora management utilizing probiotics and yeast derivatives. Such events reinforce our position as a research-based company committed to building the future of poultry nutrition.

Addressing markets challenges
Today, the poultry industry is facing many health issues within the global context of increased concern surrounding antimicrobial resistance, food safety and animal welfare. There is not one, single solution. The answer is integrated programs from the quality of the chicks all the way up to the animal environment and gut health management. At Lallemand, we believe that our specific microbial solutions can be part of this holistic flock management approach.

Latest findings on food borne pathogen reduction in broilers

Two presentations at the APPC showed the benefts of the probiotic strain Saccharomyces cerevisiae boulardii CNCM I-1079 in broiler chickens, specifically its benefits in food safety applications. S. cerevisiae boulardii CNCM I-1079 is the first and only probiotic strain authorized in the European Union (EU) as a feed additive for the reduction of carcass contamination by Salmonella spp. in broiler chickens. This is backed by a multi-analysis that was presented at the conference, compiling five studies from scientific publications. The analysis concluded a significant reduction in the number of animals positive for Salmonella when fed the live yeast supplement (P<0.05), and a reduction in the number of carcasses contaminated with the food borne pathogen (P<0.05). The second presentation confirmed the live yeast’s mode of action in the gut of broilers, which can be described as a three-way action: enhancement of digestive micro biota; strengthened gut integrity and gut morphology; and improved immunity. In particular, this study — conducted with Cairo University — showed the live yeast had a significant effect on the activity of the bird’s immune organs.
