LEVUCELL® SB the first probiotic feed additive authorized in EU for reduction of Salmonella

BLAGNAC, FRANCE : Lallemand Animal Nutrition is proud to announce that thelive yeast probiotic strain Saccharomyces cerevisiae boulardii CNCM I-1079 (LEVUCELL^® SB) is the first and only feed additive authorized in the European Union (EU) for the reduction of carcass contamination bySalmonella spp.in broiler chickens¹.This regulatory breakthrough is based on an extensive knowledge about the S. c. boulardiiCNCM I-1079 mode of action and its positive effects in the digestive tract, in particular its unique properties supporting a balanced intestinal microbiota and reinforcing natural defenses. Thanks to an extensive research dossier submitted by Lallemand Animal Nutrition, scientific experts from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) have acknowledged the potential of the probiotic S. c.boulardii CNCM I-1079 to aid in the reduction of carcass contamination bySalmonella spp. This has led to the authorization of the additive under “other zootechnical additives” with the mention of reduction of Salmonellacontamination on carcasses through its decreasein the faeces².
