Developed using high-quality Italian raw materials, Oricef Vet® contains Ceftriaxone Sodium USP and boasts impressive attributes such as 90%–95% protein binding capacity, extended plasma half-life, and rapid onset of action. Its ability to destroy beta-lactamase-producing bacteria makes it a strong candidate in the fight against antibiotic resistance in animals.
Oricef Vet® is designed to treat a wide range of bacterial infections in animals, including respiratory and mammary gland infections, urogenital and gastrointestinal infections, skin and soft tissue infections, as well as bone, joint, and intra-abdominal infections. Its formulation allows use across a wide spectrum of species, from large animals such as cattle, horses, and camels to small animals like goats and calves, and even domestic pets like dogs and cats. It is also suitable for use in zoo animals, with dosing carefully calibrated based on body weight and species.
This veterinary antibiotic is available in multiple strengths—500 mg, 1 g, and 2 g in separate administration route. The preparation possesses either Lidocaine 1% for IM injections or sterile water for IV use, ensuring safe and effective delivery. Healthcare Pharmaceuticals has emphasized that Lidocainenever be used for IV administration and likewise, water for injection should not be used for IM routes. These strict administration protocols highlight the manufacturer’s focus on ensuring safety and efficacy.
Oricef Vet® is contraindicated in animals with known hypersensitivity to cephalosporins and should be used with caution in cases of severe hepatic dysfunction, renal insufficiency, or bleeding disorders. Reported side effects include hypersensitivity reactions, allergic responses, diarrhea, fever, and thrombocytosis. The product’s safety profile during pregnancy and lactation has been established in laboratory studies, with minimal transmission into milk when used at therapeutic doses.
In terms of storage, the reconstituted solution with Lidocaine remains stable for 24 hours at 25°C and up to 3 days at 4°C, while the water-based preparation can last 2 days at room temperature and 10 days when refrigerated. Packaging includes vials along with the appropriate diluent and syringe, tailored to the dosage strength.
