Special Correspondent: Planet Pharma in collaboration with Habio, hosted a Technical Seminar yesterday (14 August) at the Radisson Blu Garden Hotel in Dhaka, bringing together global poultry nutrition experts, business leaders and key industry representatives under the theme “Do More with Less: From Cost Control to Value Creation.”
The high-profile event showcased the latest innovations in feed efficiency and created a direct platform for dialogue between international specialists and Bangladesh’s protein sector stakeholders.
Delivering the welcome address Mr. Shah Fahad Habib, Director of Planet Pharma, spoke on the present state of Bangladesh’s poultry industry and the reasons for partnering with Habio. He explained that, Habio develops its own bacterial strains and manufactures its products in-house, ensuring high quality and performance.

Planet Pharma is currently importing four Habio enzymes—Compounded ProFast (Protease), BioPhos (Phytase), ProMannanova (Beta-Mannanase with Bacillus subtilis) and BioXylan (Xylanase)—which are now marketed in the local feed sector.
“These enzymes are affordable, deliver high matrix values and help save on feed formulation costs which can ultimately reduce meat and egg prices,” he said, adding that feedback from customers over the past ten months has been “tremendously positive.”
The seminar drew strong industry representation with the Presidents of BPICC (Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council), FIAB (Feed Industries Association of Bangladesh) and BAB (Breeders Association of Bangladesh) in attendance. Distinguished guest Mr. Shah Habibul Haque, Managing Director of Planet Pharma also joined the proceedings.
Opening the technical segment Mr. Davis Wang, Overseas Manager of Habio, outlined the company’s mission to provide advanced enzyme technology solutions tailored to the unique challenges of Bangladesh’s feed and poultry sectors. He underscored the importance of sustainable value creation while maintaining cost efficiency and competitive performance.
The first technical presentation, “Strategies for Efficient Utilization of Dietary Nutrients in Meat-type Poultry,” was delivered by Professor Casey Bradley, an internationally recognized poultry nutritionist. She discussed optimizing nutrient absorption, improving feed conversion ratios, lowering production costs and safeguarding bird health, offering research-backed strategies relevant to both large feed mills and small poultry farms.
The second technical presentation, “Understanding Ingredient Variation and How to Minimize Negative Impacts with the Use of Enzymes,” was presented by Professor Qiufeng Zeng, a leading authority in animal nutrition and enzyme application. He addressed the effects of raw material inconsistencies on feed performance and highlighted targeted enzyme programs to stabilize quality, enhance digestibility and improve production outcomes.
A lively question-and-answer session followed, with Professors Bradley and Zeng joined by Mr. Davis Wang and Mr. Daniel Zhu of Habio to discuss enzyme dosage optimization, cost–benefit considerations for the Bangladeshi market, ingredient quality challenges and international case studies.
In closing remarks, Mr. Shah Habibul Haque expressed appreciation to the speakers, industry leaders and participants, reaffirming Habio’s commitment to building long-term partnerships in Bangladesh.
The program was jointly hosted by Mr. Daniel Zhu, senior representative of Habio, and Mr. Mohammad Riaz Ghauri, Manager, Supply Chain Management at Planet Pharma.
The evening concluded with a networking dinner, where participants exchanged ideas and explored opportunities for collaboration. With its strong international participation, in-depth technical discussions, and robust local engagement, the Habio Branding Conference & Technical Seminar marked a milestone in advancing Bangladesh’s poultry and feed industry toward greater efficiency, profitability and sustainability.
