Staff Correspondent: The prestigious three-day Hatchery Management Training program is currently underway at Hotel Bengal Blueberry in Gulshan-2, Dhaka, bringing together leading professionals, technical experts, and international specialists dedicated to advancing Bangladesh’s poultry sector. Organized as part of PoultryTechBangladesh—a collaborative public-private partnership—the training aims to strengthen the poultry value chain and promote sustainable growth. The program, running from 16 to 18 June 2025, is supported by Royal Pas Reform, Larive International, Axon Limited and prominent Bangladeshi companies committed to modernizing the industry.
The opening session featured an inspiring speech by Miss Naziba Ali, Business Analyst at LightCastle Partners Limited, who provided a clear overview of LightCastle’s contribution to the country’s poultry development. She highlighted how data-driven strategies, capacity building, and strategic partnerships have played a vital role in driving industry progress.
Following her address, Zahedul Amin, Managing Director of LightCastle Partners Limited emphasized the critical need for advanced hatchery practices to ensure both productivity and sustainability in poultry production.
Mr. Zahidul Hasan, Managing Director of AXON Limited, delivered a thoughtful address reflecting on his over two decades of experience in the poultry sector. He said, I have over two decades of experience in this poultry industry. I have seen a lot of ups and downs. I have witnessed significant achievements that the industry has made to reach this position today, and I am very proud of it.
He also said, On behalf of the industry, I can say people are also very proud of it. If you compare us to neighboring countries, in some areas we are ahead of them in terms of efficiency, product quality, and overall progress.
“I believe four different factors have led to the development and sustainability of this industry. The first is the introduction of innovative technology that has created great revelations. We are one of the companies that introduced European technology to Bangladesh back in 2003, and that was a major breakthrough in the development of this industry. The second is the mass knowledge that you all have acquired over the years, which has been crucial. The third is the efficient skills and management that you have achieved, which have pushed the industry to another level. Lastly, I would mention the introduction of vertical integration in the poultry industry. Initially, it was milling, poultry farming, and hatching, but now we have added poultry processing, further processing with ready-to-eat frozen products, waste management, and in recent years, significant development and expansion of commercial laying for table eggs and commercial production for table meat. All this together has made the industry what it is today”- added Mr. Zahidul Hasan.
The technical sessions are being led by Gerd de Lange, Senior Poultry Specialist at Pas Reform Academy, and Lotte Hebbink, Incubation Specialist at Pas Reform Academy. Their highly interactive sessions are covering key areas including embryonic development, egg quality management, sanitation, incubation fundamentals, chick placement, and advanced data analysis to optimize hatchery performance. Participants, including hatchery managers and technical professionals, are actively engaging in practical exercises, discussions, and group activities aimed at translating theory into real-world improvements. A correspondent from the Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council (BPICC) is present to document the proceedings for the broader industry audience.
The program has been praised for offering a rare platform where local professionals can directly interact with global experts, exchange knowledge, and work together to enhance the sector’s efficiency and sustainability. The training will officially conclude tomorrow, 18 June 2025, with a certificate distribution ceremony recognizing participants’ successful completion of the program and their commitment to implementing international best practices in hatchery management.
