Special Correspondent: The Nutritional Health Summit – Bangladesh 2025 was successfully held on May 24, 2025, at Hotel Le Méridien, Dhaka. Organized by Kemin Industries South Asia Pvt. Ltd., the event brought together international experts, veterinarians, nutritionists, and industry professionals to discuss sustainable strategies for enhancing poultry and livestock health through improved gut health and nutritional efficiency.
The summit commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Sushanta Dey, Marketing Director of Kemin Industries South Asia. In his opening remarks, he emphasized the growing demand for a protein-rich, nutritionally efficient food system to meet the needs of a rapidly expanding global population. He also praised the significant progress made in Bangladesh’s livestock and poultry sectors and highlighted the importance of gut health and feed efficiency as key drivers for sustainable and profitable animal production.
Dr. R. Sureshkumar, President of Kemin Industries South Asia, graced the summit with his esteemed presence, reinforcing the significance of the event for regional and global collaboration in animal nutrition.
The technical sessions opened with a presentation by Mr. Rahul Kapse, Marketing Manager at Kemin, on “Improving Efficiency of Molasses Utilisation in Cattle Feed.” He discussed various methods to enhance the nutritional value of molasses in ruminant diets and to improve cost-effectiveness for farmers and feed producers. A dynamic Q&A session followed, offering attendees the opportunity to interact directly with him.
After a short tea break, Dr. D. Chandrasekaran, a renowned poultry nutritionist from India, delivered a presentation on “Enhancing Layer Performance – Through Feed and Nutrition.” With over four decades of expertise, Dr. Chandrasekaran provided deep insights into feed formulation, raw material quality, and strategies to boost productivity in laying hens.
Following this, Dr. Partha Das, AGM Nutrition at Kemin, delivered a session titled “Advancing Nutrient Release: Xylanase and Beyond.” He elaborated on how enzyme technologies can significantly improve nutrient availability and feed conversion rates, presenting practical applications of advanced feed enzymes. Audience engagement remained high, with questions and discussions enhancing the learning experience.
After lunch, Dr. Tiago Prucha, Global Poultry Specialist at Vetworks, Europe, presented “Gut Microbiota, Pathogens & Inflammation: Understanding the Intricate Relationship.” He explored the complex interactions between gut microbiota, pathogens, and inflammatory responses, and offered practical recommendations to improve gut health and overall poultry performance.
The final technical presentation was delivered by Dr. Satyam Sharma, Product Manager for Intestinal Health at Kemin, who spoke on “Practical Innovations for Emerging Gut Health Challenges.” He stressed the importance of regionally adapted, sustainable solutions for intestinal health in the poultry and livestock sectors of South Asia.
During the summit, Kemin Industries also showcased three of their innovative nutritional solutions that drew significant interest from attendees. KEMZYME™, a multi-enzyme product, is designed to improve feed digestibility by breaking down complex feed ingredients and enhancing nutrient absorption. A comprehensive Q&A session was held after the technical talks, where participants engaged enthusiastically with the panel of experts, delving into field-level challenges and real-world applications of the knowledge shared throughout the day.
As a token of appreciation, Kemin Industries presented souvenirs to all the speakers, recognizing their valuable contributions to the summit. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Muhammad Gulam Murshed, who expressed gratitude to the distinguished speakers, dignitaries, participants, and the organizing team. Senior officials from Kemin Industries in both India and Bangladesh, along with local distributors, were also present, reflecting the growing importance of regional partnerships in the agricultural and livestock sectors.
